Jan. 17 to Feb. 4, 2012 is Broadway Week - Tickets are Buy 1, Take 1

How amazing is this? NYC & Company, New York City’s official marketing arm, is launching Broadway Week from January 17 to February 4, 2012. During the said period, you will be able to buy two tickets to your favorite Broadway shows for the price of one! BUY 1, TAKE 1 - across the board. It’s bloody brilliant..

Broadway and the theater remain to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest profit center of New York City and one of the cornerstones of NYC tourism to this day. With this initiative come greater revenues on the part of private theater outfits (to which some are entities of bigger corporations like Disney and Warner Brothers) and more variegated sources of income for government thru taxation and other such measures. It’s all relative and very exciting really - how theater in New York is able to give back to its community. Let’s not forget the Broadway Cares: Equity Fights Aids campaign that is happening all over New York theater at the moment. After the curtain call, the cast stays on and announces all these items up for auction that you can purchase in which proceeds go to the said charity. Best item yet is a walk-on cameo in Follies. Amazing! WIth Broadway Week, this time the community is able to give back to theater.

I can only pray that the Philippine Department of Tourism will be able to capitalize on our talent and the plethora of quality shows we offer as well.
