Eugene reprises Nora Aunor’s role in PETA’s stage adaptation. Lino Brocka’s film classic will be reinvented by Philippine Education Theater Association (PETA) as it opens its 45th Theater Season with the first staged comedy-drama adaptation of “Bona”
Set in contemporary Manila, Bona now focuses on the life of a spinster call center agent, Bona (essayed by Eugene Domingo), who becomes a die-hard fan of the Star of Tomorrow wannabe, Gino Sanchez. In her desire to help him jumpstart his showbiz career, she gives him everything and turns her back to everything she values. Blinded by her belief in him, she allows all his faults to freely slide as she finds herself drowning in the surreal quicksand of worship and pity.
The show will be directed by Soxie Topacio and written by Lalie Bucoy.
